Biographical Information:
C. Douglas McConnell is dean and associate professor of leadership in the School of Intercultural Studies.
Doug McConnell and his wife, Janna, spent 15 years as missionaries in Australia and Papua New Guinea with Asia Pacific Christian Mission (APCM, now PIONEERS). From 1992 to 1998, he taught courses in leadership, urban missions, and cross-cultural research at Wheaton College Graduate School, where he was an associate professor and chair of the Department of Missions/ Intercultural and Evangelism. Prior to coming to Fuller, McConnell served as the first international director of PIONEERS, from 1998 to 2003.
McConnell teaches courses in leadership and missiological integration from a global perspective. He is currently spearheading the School of Intercultural Studies concentration in mission to children at risk. McConnell is leading courses and research examining global issues on missional responses to children at risk and the role of dialogue in the evangelistic mandate.
McConnell’s recent publications include The Changing Face of World Missions (coauthor, 2005); Children of the Kingdom: Missiological Reflections on Children at Risk (In Changing our Response: Mission in the Era of HIV/AIDS, the International Bulletin of Missionary Research by OMSC Publications, 2005); and The Church’s Mission to Children at Risk (editor), Theology News & Notes, Fuller Theological Seminary, Fall 2005, and Understanding God’s Heart for Children (co-editor), 2007.
