Purpose: To examine curative healthcare, community health development and organizational partnerships as paradigms for missionary nursing practice.

Objectives:
1. Give a historical perspective on missionary nursing
2. Present the educational foundations for nursing practice in each of the healthcare missions paradigms
3. Discuss the nursing issues related to the healthcare mission paradigms.
4. Look at trends that will affect missionary nursing in the future.
5. Consider the implications of the issues and trends on missionary nursing practice
